Privacy policy.
Last updated August 2026.
The short version
- We collect what we need to make your cushions and get them to you, plus the basic technical records any website keeps.
- We never see or store your card number. Our payment processor handles it.
- We do not sell your information, and we do not share it for anyone else’s advertising.
- There are no analytics or advertising trackers on this site. Two things do involve an outside company: our payment processor runs a fraud check on the checkout page, and our chat assistant is powered by an outside AI provider.
- You can ask what we hold about you and ask us to delete it.
Who this covers
OutdoorCushions.com sells and ships within the United States, and this policy is written for United States customers. If you contact us from elsewhere we will still answer, but we do not ship outside the country.
What we collect
| What | Why we need it |
|---|---|
| Name, email address and phone number | To confirm the order, ask about a measurement if something looks off, and send you tracking |
| Billing and shipping address | To authorize payment and deliver the cushions |
| Order contents and specifications | To cut and sew the order, and to make the same thing again if you reorder |
| A payment reference from our processor | To match a payment to an order and to issue a refund if one is due. It is not a card number |
What we never see
Your card number, expiry date and security code are never sent to our servers. Those three fields on the checkout page are hosted by our payment processor. You type them into their form, not ours. They hand us back a one-time reference and a transaction ID, and that is all we keep.
This means we cannot look up your card number, and we cannot charge you again on our own. It also means nobody who breaks into this site can take card numbers from it, because there are none here.
The chat assistant
The chat window on this site is powered by an artificial intelligence service. When you send a message, the text of your conversation is transmitted to a third-party AI service that processes the conversation on our behalf in order to generate a reply. These service providers are not permitted to use your conversation to advertise to you.
If you ask the assistant about an order, it can look that order up, and the relevant order details then form part of the conversation that is sent for processing. Please do not type card numbers, passwords or other sensitive details into the chat. You never need to, and we will never ask you to.
You are not required to use the assistant. Everything it does can also be done by contacting customer support or by calling us, and nothing is sent to an AI provider if you do not open the chat window.
We keep a copy of chat conversations on our own servers so we can follow up on an open question and see where the assistant got something wrong.
Cookies and local storage
This site sets one cookie of its own. It holds the contents of your shopping cart so the items are still there when you come back to the page. It carries no name, no email address and no payment information. Clearing it empties your cart and nothing else.
We also use a short-lived session while you are on the site, to remember things like the state you selected for a tax estimate.
If you open the chat window, the assistant stores your recent messages and a random conversation ID in your own browser’s local storage, so the conversation is still there if you change pages or come back later. That text stays on your device until you clear it, and clearing your browsing data removes it.
On the checkout page only, our payment processor’s own scripts run in order to host the card fields and screen the transaction for fraud. Those scripts come from Braintree and are governed by their privacy policy as well as this one.
There are no analytics cookies, no advertising cookies and no third-party advertising or tracking pixels on this site. If it ever changes, this page will be updated and the date at the top will change with it.
Who else sees your information
Only the companies that are actually needed to run the site and complete your order:
- Our payment processor takes your card details directly, authorizes the charge and screens it for fraud.
- The shipping carrier receives your name, address and phone number so they can deliver.
- Our email provider carries order confirmations and replies to your messages.
- Our AI provider processes chat conversations to generate a reply, as described above.
Each of these is given only what it needs to do its job, and none of them is permitted to use your information for their own marketing.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not rent, trade or otherwise disclose it for anyone else’s marketing. We will disclose information if we are legally required to, and we will tell you if we are permitted to.
Email and text messages
Email we send about an order you placed - the confirmation, a question about a measurement, tracking, a delivery problem - is part of the order, and you cannot unsubscribe from it while the order is open. That is the only email most customers ever get from us.
If we ever send you promotional email, every message will carry an unsubscribe link, and using it stops the promotional email without affecting your orders or your ability to reach support. You can also ask us to stop by replying to any message or by contacting customer support.
We use your phone number to reach you about an order, usually by calling. We do not run a marketing text message program.
How long we keep it
We keep order records. A custom cushion is made to your measurements, so if you come back in three years for a matching piece, the order is the only record of exactly what was cut. Order records are also what we need for warranty claims, returns and our own accounting and tax obligations.
Support messages, quote requests and chat transcripts work differently. We keep only the most recent records and each new one pushes out the oldest, which is deleted from our servers automatically. Photos you attach are treated the same way. In practice that means these records age out on their own without anyone having to ask.
You can also ask us to delete any of it sooner. See below.
Your choices
You can ask us to:
- tell you what we hold about you,
- correct anything that is wrong,
- delete it, or
- send you a copy
Ask by contacting customer support or by calling us, and we will respond within 2 business days We may need to keep an order record even after a deletion request, where accounting or tax rules require it. If so, we will tell you what we kept and why.
California residents. The California Consumer Privacy Act gives you the rights above, plus the right not to be discriminated against for using them. We will not refuse service, charge a different price or provide a lesser product because you asked. We do not sell or share personal information as the CCPA defines those terms, so there is nothing for you to opt out of and no “Do Not Sell Or Share” link is needed on this site.
Other states. Several other states now give their residents similar rights over their personal information. Rather than keep a list of which law applies where, we extend the rights above to every customer in the United States. Ask us the same way and we will treat the request the same way.
Browser privacy signals. Some browsers can send a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal. Because we do not sell or share personal information and run no advertising trackers, there is nothing on this site for those signals to switch off. The behavior they are designed to stop does not happen here in the first place.
Children
This site is meant for adults buying furniture cushions. It is not directed at children, we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18, and we have no interest in doing so. If you believe a child has given us information, contact customer support and we will delete it. If we find it ourselves, we will delete it without being asked.
Security
The site runs over HTTPS, card entry is handled off our servers as described above, and access to order records is limited to the people who need it to make and ship your order.
If information about you were ever exposed in a way that put you at risk, we will tell you, and we will do it as soon as we understand what happened.
Links to other sites
Some pages link out to fabric mills, care instructions and the like. Once you follow a link you are on someone else’s site, under their privacy policy rather than this one. We have no control over what they collect.
If the business changes hands
If the company is ever sold, merged or reorganized, customer records would transfer with it, because the orders and the obligation to honor them go together. Any buyer would be bound by the commitments on this page for information collected under it. If that happens and it changes how your information is used, we will tell you first.
Changes
Any change is published here with a new date at the top. If a change materially affects how we use information we already hold, we will email you where we have an address for you.
